Welcome Packet
What Quadricentennial Attendees Need to Know

In our ongoing efforts to provide up-to-date information enabling you to plan your days throughout the celebration and enjoy maximum benefit from the events being offered, we have put together some additional new information, updates, and announcements, which should benefit you in planning your trip.

Opening Ceremonies

For the grand occasion of opening night, we have reserved space at The Hampton Roads Convention Center, providing comfortable indoor seating for all of our guests. The Hampton Roads Convention Center is situated twenty-five miles southeast of our headquarters hotel, the Williamsburg Marriott. Doors for the evening’s events will open at 6:00 pm, and will begin sharply at 7:00 pm, Monday, June 11. Commemorative programs, shirts, and additional resources will be available for sale throughout the week.

Morning Symposiums

Tuesday through Thursday we will be offering educational and encouraging talks in our Symposiums. Choose between two unique venues and two unique speaker teams - Watch the schedule closely as venues and times have changed. Seating is limited in all sessions so arrive early to ensure admittance.

Evening Lectures and Dramatic Presentations

Tuesday through Thursday we will be offering both educational lectures and dramatic historical performances in our Evening Symposiums. As there is not a venue large enough for our entire group in Williamsburg, we will be dividing the group between two venues for the evening sessions. Don’t worry, you will not miss a thing as each performance or lecture will be repeated at each venue. We will post instructions on the web as to which venue you have been assigned to.

New Event: Dramatic Re-enactments by Samuel Davies, Patrick Henry, George Whitfield and more, followed by the CBN film “First Landing” will take place at the Historic Kimball Theatre in Williamsburg, Tuesday and Thursday Mornings from 8:30AM- 11:00AM. (Seating limited to 450, first come first seated basis)

Faith and Freedom Tours

Faith and Freedom tours will start at a specific location inside the various venues. Watch the Last-Minute Updates page for those locations. Please take into account parking and, in the case of Jamestown, park admittance while planning your day.

Jamestown Mini Tour Associated Fees: For those of you who have registered to enjoy one of our Jamestown Mini Tours, a $10.00 fee for each adult (anyone over 15 years old) will be required by the Park Service for entrance. We strongly suggest you pre-purchase your tickets at either Historic Jamestown or Yorktown (tickets are good for both venues for seven days from the date of purchase), permitting you to avoid potentially long lines prior to enjoying your mini tour.

Transportation Reminder

During the week of June 11 - 16, the Jamestown Quadricentennial Celebration will be taking place in the tri-city area of Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg, with events culminating at the historic Ft. Pocahontas. Please prepare for travel arrangements for your family to be able to enjoy events at each of these destinations. Vision Forum Ministries is unable to provide transportation between these events. For maps and directions, please click here.

Fort Pocahontas: Things to Bring

Fort Pocahontas is a civil war battle site located on the estate of Harrison Tyler, grandson of the tenth president John Tyler. Although we have a 3,000 person tent, we suggest you approach this like an old-fashioned picnic. Consider bringing a blanket, a cooler, lawn chairs, or anything else that would be appropriate to a beautiful outdoor setting beside the James River. Remember you will be sharing this venue with some of God’s most noble creatures; white-tail deer and bald eagles and some of the less noble; mosquitoes and ticks, so remember your binoculars and your bug spray!

Food and Vendor Information

The Jamestown Quadricentennial Celebration will culminate at the historic Ft. Pocahontas. In keeping with the festivities and fun, we are planning to have food vendors available for you to purchase refreshments ranging from cold drinks, hot dogs, and hamburgers, to funnel cakes and elephant ears. Packed or picnic lunches are welcome and encouraged for you to enjoy in the spirit of past anniversaries and celebrations. Other food and drink options are available in the Williamsburg tri-city area - approximately 25 minutes away. Should you plan to drive to Williamsburg for dinner, please consider the driving time, in order to return for scheduled evening activities at Ft. Pocahontas.

Prayer Requests

We fervently covet your prayers for this large undertaking. We believe this event presents a glorious opportunity to impact the state of Virginia and our nation for the cause of Christ. Please join with us in praying for wisdom and strength for our staff and event coordinators, for our press team as they continue to proclaim the truth of God’s Providential workings, and that the Lord Jesus Christ himself would be pleased to bless us with His superintendence and guidance, as well as good weather.

Your prayers are a great encouragement to us as we plan together to assemble in June for a time of great celebration and thanksgiving filled remembrances. We look forward to seeing each and every one of you in Virginia!
