Baby William Goforth

When baby William was born to parents Joshua and Noelle Goforth, many urged the discontinuation of life support. At 1 lbs., 4 oz., no recognizable brain waves, and a high probability of permanent vegetative status, this 24-week old preemie was considered by medical experts to be unworthy of the continued financial resources necessary to keep him alive.
Believing not only in the power of God but in the solemn duty of every parent to fight for and preserve the life of their child, this couple communicated to all their faith in the Lord and rejection of all unbiblical quality of life arguments.
Joshua and Noelle persevered in prayer and commitment for their child, refusing to bow to the extraordinary pressure to discontinue support by those who deemed the child unworthy of life. Miraculously, God began the process of confounding the physicians and healing the child including revealing the functionality of his brain, eliminating the need for life support, and doubling the size of the baby’s weight within a matter of weeks.
Remarkably, once it became clear that the baby was flourishing, pressure came upon the Goforths to accept state welfare support for their medical bills or risk Child Protective Service seizure of the child. Here again, great courage and conviction was shown by the family who communicated their commitment as Christians to stay off government welfare programs.
Today, William Goforth continues to grow and experience the love of his parents. Though William has continual battles with his sight and learning, all who know him or have followed his story will testify that his life has been used to challenge, inspire, and change countless other lives for the glory of God.
