About the Fund

There are two defining medical ethics questions confronting the Christian community in the Twenty-First Century. The first is this: Should Christians view all life, regardless of size, age, viability, or “quality of life” as sacred and worthy of protection? The second is this: Who should be the primary caretaker for the people of God — the people of God themselves, or the state?
At Vision Forum, we not only love life, but we rejoice in the fact that our God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills is more than capable of working through His people to stand with faithful believers committed to the sanctity of life.
With gratitude to the Lord for His faithful provision to those who cry out to Him, we are pleased to announce the Life and Liberty Medical Assistance Fund (formerly the Baby Goforth Fund). The fund is an extension of three points addressed in our mission statement:
- Reviving the Doctrine of “Women and Children First”
- Embracing the Blessing of Children and the Sanctity of Human Life
- Addressing the Ethical Issues of the Twenty-First Century
Inspired by the remarkable story of baby William Goforth, the Life and Liberty Medical Assistance Fund was originally established to provide limited emergency financial resources for prematurely born babies, which others, including members of the medical community, encourage to discard because of “quality of life” issues or financial concerns regarding the potential expense of continued life support.
Today, the fund is offered to assist women and children with a life-threatening medical crisis where the families in need recognize the sanctity of life for all living beings regardless of viability, potentiality, current health, minimized brain waves, or perceived quality of life, and where the families in crisis have insufficient means to meet the bills, but as a matter of conviction, will not apply for state welfare in any form.
We are delighted to report that in both 2003 and 2004 the people of God demonstrated amazing generosity and provided the fund with sufficient resources to make a fundamental difference in the lives of multiple families. Please pray with us that the Lord will use these funds to save lives and impact the world in the name of Jesus Christ.

When Baby William Goforth was born at 23 weeks weighing a mere 1 lbs., 4 oz., pounds, many doctors and counselors recognizing the extreme costs of caring for such a child and assuming a “poor quality of life,” recommended that Baby William die. Vision Forum Ministries came to his aid, bringing the story to national attention, raising more than $100,000 dollars in support for Baby William. Learn more
Without the resources to pay for the life-preserving treatment for their son, and yet unwilling to go on government welfare, the Huron family cried out to the Lord for their little boy, Santiago Thomas Huron. Vision Forum Ministries raised the money for the operation which proved successful. Learn more
Faced with a life threatening illness and a medical financial crisis, the Kennedy family turned to the body of Christ for assistance for their daughter Shelby. To date, Vision Forum Ministries has raised more than $50,000 through this fund to help cover life-preserving medical treatments for this faithful servant of Christ. Learn more
When this family of missionaries to the unborn themselves were faced with an imminent life-threatening crisis to the mother of nine children, and no financial resources, your generous donations enabled Vision Forum Ministries to send immediate financial assistance. Learn more
Note: 100% of your donation is set aside for Life and Liberty Medical fund recipients. Operational costs for Vision Forum to keep ministries like the Life and Liberty Medical Fund are covered through donations to our general fund.
