Prepare Yourself to Speak in the Gates

God has called men to rise to leadership in the family, the church, and the state. The 2008 Witherspoon School on Law and Public Policy will feature a distinguished faculty and will include important training on the biblical foundations of law and public policy and the relationship of Christianity to the Constitution and the American legal system. In addition, our special symposiums will address the defining issues of the 2008 elections, the future of the Second Amendment, and the defense of the local church.

A Night to Remember

The evening of April 14, 1912, was both the darkest and brightest night in modern maritime history. Even as 1,522 drowned in the icy waters of the North Atlantic, brave men and boys on board the *Titanic* saved hundreds of other lives by honoring the command "women and children first," giving their own lives in exchange. Join us on April 14, 2008 for a special evening of tribute as we honor the sacrifice of these noble men.

Lasting Reformation: May God Make it So

Over six hundred participants descended on Wake Forest, North Carolina for the NCFIC's final regional conference for 2007.
A Letter to a Grieving Father

John Calvin is best known as a distinguished theologian and leading Protestant Reformer. However, it must be remembered that he functioned first and foremost as a pastor to the congregation of believers at Geneva. This consolatory letter, written by Calvin to Monsieur de Richebourg on the death of his son, reveals a heart that is warm and tender towards those who suffer through the trials of life rather than one which is cold and hard. It is the heart of a true shepherd and pastor to his people.

God's Design for Church and Home

There is a new breed of pastor in this country -- men who are not swayed by paycheck or peer pressure. There are hundreds of courageous, God-fearing pastors afoot in this nation, and they fear neither man nor mammon, for they have risked everything -- all money and relationships and comforts -- for faithfulness.

How to Respond to a Tale-Bearer

Dr. Abshire has offered a devastating response defending his views, Vision Forum Ministries (and, indirectly, innocent men and women who reject feminism and hold to historic Reformation doctrines of the family) from one talebearer who has suggested that such beliefs are "cultic." Dr. Abshire's rebuttal is quite instructive because he exposes numerous basic errors in logic, research omissions, unbrotherly conduct, and outright falsehoods employed by this individual. And Dr. Abshire makes his case with manly firmness, but genuine Christian charity, ever willing to give the benefit of the doubt to an accuser who was most certainly not willing to do the same for him.

Dr. D. James Kennedy is with Jesus Christ in Heaven

Once again, the Christian community has lost a giant of the Faith. Dr. D. James Kennedy died at his home just after 2 a.m. this morning. More than anything, Dr. Kennedy must be remembered as a preacher of the Gospel and of Christ crucified. But he was also one of the men who left the most significant and lasting influences on the Church in America during the last quarter of the twentieth century. He dedicated his life to fighting for the Lordship of Christ. We would be well-served to embrace the best examples of this from his illustrious legacy.

Calvin and Knox on the Doctrine of Male Headship

The Reformers of the sixteenth century did not acquiesce to the radical egalitarianism that has become the rage in Evangelical circles in our day, but rather affirmed the doctrine of male headship and female submission as taught in the Scriptures. While male headship is not a popular doctrine in the twenty-first century, it is one that has been affirmed by orthodox commentators for millennia. John Calvin and John Knox are two torch-bearers of this position from the Protestant Reformation.

John Calvin on Women Rejoicing in Their Role as Homemakers

Reformer John Calvin affirmed the role of women as homemakers and urged ladies to rejoice in this station, "[L]et women learn to rejoice when they do their duty, and though the world despise it, let this comfort sweeten all respect they might have that way, and say, 'God seeth me here, and his Angels, who are sufficient witnesses of my doings, although the world do not allow of them.'"

The Texas Supreme Court Upholds Church's Right to Discipline

On June 29, 2007, the Texas Supreme Court rendered a unanimous opinion affirming a Texas church's authority to exercise discipline apart from civil interference. This decision is landmark because it is the first time a modern court has clearly and convincingly articulated that a church can carry out biblical under the authority of church government without fear of being overturned in civil court.

As Moses prepared to go the way of the earth, he gave the children of Israel a history of God's workings through their family heritage and charged them to "remember the days of old." Do you understand your personal family history -- both the good and the bad? This article offers probing lessons from Moses' final discourses to the children of Israel on why it is important for God's people to understand and explain to their children their family's background so that they might have hope and overcome.
