Calling all bakers, cooks, and home-spun food enthusiasts! You are officially invited to submit your food creation to The Reformation of Food & the Family Conference Cooking and Baking Competition.

This is your opportunity to have your food tested and evaluated by those who will happily tell you the truth. Too moist? Too dry? Too tart? Too salty? Too plain? Enter any or all of our ten food categories, then laugh, cry, and wait for the results.

See how your delicious entry ranks — **$10 per entry.**

Classic State Fair Pie

The essential recipe in every kitchen ... the all American favorite, your finest dessert pie ... in a homemade crust, of course! It is a symbol of celebratory times for the family, for memorable holidays, and just for “someone special”. Bring your hand-crafted edible art to our competition and thrill the judges with your taste sensation.

Classic Pie — Naturally Sweetened

We are looking for those ingenious cooks out there who appreciate the sweetness of God’s provision without the addition of white or brown sugars or artificial sweeteners. Please bring our eager judges a taste of your delicious wholesome pie and homemade crust, sweetened exclusively with natural sweeteners.

Classic State Fair Bread

The epitome of hearty home cooking: fresh baked bread! We know you are out there, those of you who nurture your families with the fresh baked aromas that only are a result of your patient toil of homemade bread from scratch. Thank you for continuing on with this tradition and please, bring a loaf to share at our Food Creation Competition!

Gluten-Free Bread

A loaf of your classic bread winner, made exclusively with gluten-free ingredients. For those of us who suffer from a gluten intolerance, or those attempting to reduce the (ever present) gluten in our diet—a tasty, basic gluten-free bread recipe is of great value. Teff? Sorghum? Quinoa? Can it ever taste good enough to satisfy all tastes? Bring a loaf and come show our judges how it is done!

Lacto-Fermented Vegetable

Some may feel that making your own fermented foods is intimidating, not to mention a truly foreign concept! If you are one of those in the know as far as this simple, economical, nutrient rich and tasty method for foods that (1) promote the growth of healthy probiotics and (2) keep vegetables in a state of perfect preservation ... please, come bring your sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, and other vegetables, and share with the Reformation of Food and Family!

Vegetarian, Animal-Product-Free Dish: Raw

Fresh salads, side dishes, spreads, pâtés, and other all uncooked fruit / nut / vegetable delights are loaded with micro-nutrients ... phyto-chemicals ... enzymes! It goes without saying that God gave us a bounty of food, fresh for the picking—available for consumption without much alteration. This is a diverse and flavorful category full of varied possibilities for those willing to think “food” without a stove!

Vegetarian, Animal-Product-Free Dish: Cooked

There are thousands of different vegetables in the world—from chayote to celeriac, from fiddlehead to jicama ... come and share your hearty dish that invigorates meal time! We would love to taste your “inventions” to please even the pickiest eater. Be creative with a variety of satisfying casseroles, side dishes or soups. Bring us your healthy alternatives to many meal favorites—and introduce us to some new creations, too.

Dehydrated Delights

Many nutritional advantages are found with this beneficial preparation and preservation method of “food drying”. Dehydration is a tasty way of preparing nuts, fruits, vegetables, and seeds with a low heat method that preserves important enzymes. Some feel it is the easiest, cheapest, and the most appropriate method of food preservation. Bring your favorite dehydrated treat (no meat please) to our food contest!

Chili

If you’re from Hungary you call it Goulash and if you’re from Louisiana you call it Gumbo. Here in Texas, we call it chili! Chili con carne or Chili sin carne (with or without meat)—either way, we invite you to be creative with this traditional Mexican stew of any meat and/or vegetable combination.

Cheese

Cheese. Hardy and robust or creamy and mild, it is loved the world over for its multiple uses and wide-ranging flavors, textures, and forms. Around the globe, it’s made from the milk of ewes and camels, cows, goats or reindeer—which ever it is, bring yours to us this July and go for the prize!
